Our Mission

To acknowledge the health needs of the Latino community, as well as to promote the interests and support of those medical students who identify themselves as Latino, through social, cultural, and educational activities.

Educate

Increase awareness to the specific needs and differences of the Latino population regarding health and well-being.

Advocate

Advocate for the rights and dignity of Latino patients and strive to resolve healthcare inequities impacting the Latino population.

Innovate

Develop and implement research designed to identify the health care needs of our community.

Forge close relations with other organizations to achieve a shared objective and vision.

Fostering
Community

We aim to create a strong community among our Latino medical students at MCOM, to cultivate their potential and promote engagement in community-based medical outreach for the betterment of the Latino patient population here in the Tampa Bay region.

By these efforts, we strive to increase Latino representation at our medical school, within the student body and healthcare provider network, building an environment forthcoming to all interested in contributing to and serving in our healthcare profession programs.

Professional
Development

In addition to cultural and educational activities, LMSA intends to support the professional goal and career ambitions of our aspiring Latino physicians.

From mentorship programs, networking events, and research development, we aim to provide a platform for members to explore options and opportunities in the field of medicine, becoming equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed in future professional endeavors.
